What are your center hours?
Hours among centers can vary. However, the centers are open at a minimum from 8am to 5pm on weekdays. Most centers are also open on weekends. We are able to develop a schedule to meet the needs of both caregivers and our members.
Can you provide or arrange transportation?
We do provide or arrange transportation at our centers. Family members can transport their loved ones if they are able; otherwise we are able to coordinate transportation with our vehicle fleet or with the contracted transportation provider for the county in which you reside. At some centers, Active Day/Senior Care transports our members to and from medical appointments at no additional cost.
What is the cost?
There is a standard enrollment fee for all members admitted into Active Day/Senior Care, with the exception of those on medical assistance. The standard day of service includes comprehensive care, including nursing supervision and personal assistance, social services, recreational activities, a nutritious hot meal and snack, and arrangement or provision of transportation door-to-door.
Our private pay fee varies by state, level of care, and other factors. Funding is available through Medicaid, Long-Term Care Insurance, Veteran’s Administration, Pennsylvania Options Programs, Alzheimer’s Grants, as well as various other State and County programs. In most cases the cost of our service qualifies as a tax-deductible medical expense. Please consult your tax advisor with regard to your personal situation.
What if my loved one is unsure about attending?
Our centers have trained staff which deal with these situations every day. You can remind your loved one the program is not only a benefit for them, but it is a needed respite for you, their caregiver. We suggest you simply transport your loved one here, and we will take care of the rest. After a week or so of coming to our centers, our members typically integrate into the center. We are sure they will enjoy their time at Active Day/Senior Care and look forward to returning.
Can my loved one attend the program if they have dementia, are in a wheelchair, or are incontinent?
Yes, we welcome members with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments. Our centers are equipped with staff who are trained to assist your loved one with activities of daily living.
